Nodero is proud to celebrate Clare Thomas being named a finalist for the Shining Star Award at the Women in ICT Awards 2026.
The Women in ICT Awards recognise and celebrate the incredible women shaping the future of technology across Aotearoa. Clare's nomination reflects not only her leadership and impact within the industry, but also her commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes for clients, teams, and communities.
Reflecting on the moment she learned she had been nominated, Clare described her reaction as one of excitement, disbelief, and genuine gratitude.
"When you're busy doing the work day to day, you don't often stop to reflect on how far you've come, so being recognised in this way was really special. It also felt like a reflection of the amazing people I've worked with and learned from throughout my career."

Currently serving as Head of Operations and Delivery at Nodero, Clare's journey into technology has been shaped by problem solving, collaboration, and a passion for improving experiences for others.
"My path into tech wasn't a traditional technical route, which is something I really value because it's shown me there are many ways to build a career in this industry," Clare shared.
Over the years, Clare has worked across quality assurance, business analysis, project delivery, operations, and leadership roles, helping organisations deliver digital solutions that create real impact.
"What has shaped me most professionally is recognising that change is constant, and that meaningful change through people, processes, or technology can have a genuinely positive impact on organisations and communities. Being able to contribute to that change and help shape better outcomes for others is something I've found incredibly rewarding throughout my career.”
She credits much of her growth to stepping outside her comfort zone and embracing new challenges throughout her career.
"A big part of my growth has also come from stepping outside my comfort zone, whether that's leading teams, contributing to governance roles in the tech community, or learning how to navigate challenges with confidence and empathy."
For Clare, success in technology goes beyond technical expertise alone. "I've learned that strong relationships, communication, and curiosity are just as important as technical knowledge in this industry."

As part of the recognition, Clare also shared advice for young women considering a career in technology, encouraging them to recognise the value they already bring to the industry.
"Don't underestimate the value of your perspective or the skills you already bring. Technology isn't just about coding. The industry needs communicators, problem solvers, designers, organisers, leaders, and people who genuinely care about improving outcomes for others.
Clare also encouraged young women not to hold back from opportunities before they feel ready. "Some of the biggest growth moments in my career came from saying yes to things that felt a little daunting at the time."
She also highlighted the importance of community. "Find good people around you. Mentors, supportive teams, and communities make such a difference, and there are so many incredible women in tech who are willing to encourage and support others coming through."
The winners of the Women in ICT Awards 2026 will be announced at a celebration lunch at the Cordis in Auckland on Wednesday 17 June.
